First Project: Post-Critique Reflection
I was pretty nervous about critique day, but I ended up enjoying the open-forum atmosphere that was established. It was really helpful to hear from my peers, as well as Sarah, about my photos. I really appreciate hearing alternative perspectives whether they be positive or constructive critiques. I really enjoyed hearing some of the discussion about Diagonal Lines 2. Because of its obscurity, I think it captured lots of students’ attentions. One thing that I might change about the editing of that photo would be the coloring of the bird. I am not sure exactly what I would do with it, but I would consider making it either more or less saturated, one extreme or the other.
I was really happy to hear some reception about the grouping of the photos. I did group the images purposefully as there are a lot of parallels within each photo set. I would have liked to hear a bit more feedback about my decision to flip Paint 1 upside-down. I was unsure whether that was a good choice, and was curious as to whether it achieved the sense of disorientation that I wanted that image to emit. One thing that I have come to conclusion about on my own is the fact that I want my images for critique to be more cohesive than they were for my first project. Next time, I would like to start shooting with a specific idea or goal that relates to the subject of my shots. I would like to do this because it would maybe be a more meaningful grouping of images for myself and the viewers.
