Project 2: Emotive Color - Emotion Reflection
The emotion that I have to portray in my photos is peacefulness. To be peaceful is to be free from disturbance, or tranquil. Visually, this emotion can be portrayed in many different ways. In terms of color peacefulness is sometimes portrayed through the use of vast blocks of warm or cool colors across the image. Many people consider landscape photography to be very peaceful, and this can be attributed to the uniformity in color throughout the image as well as the color itself. I associate tranquility with the certain shades of blue, and warm yellows. As well as color, I think that the use of horizontal lines and simplistic composition emit a sense of peace for the viewer. The photo by Misreck portrays peacefulness because of the lengthened horizon line, the cool colors that give the image more sensory depth, and simplicity of the subject matter in the photo.
In my photos, I want familiarity to be a source of the peaceful feeling that viewers hopefully get after seeing the shots. I want all of my photos to use long lines and a centered focus for the majority of my shots. My hope is that these techniques will portray a peaceful feeling, and in addition, the repetitive composition will serve as another layer of peacefulness. I think that the use of water will be very beneficial for my project.
