My Project Ideas - Emotive Colors

The project goal is to use color to depict an emotion. I was assigned to depict the emotion of peacefulness. When I think of a peaceful photograph, what immediately comes to mind is a picture of a beach with an expansive horizon, or a picture of someone sleeping in warm light. I did not want to take such cliche shots. What I wanted to do was incorporate the techniques that make these photos peaceful but photograph different subjects. I wanted to shoot outdoors and I wanted to utilize a big horizon line, and possibly, sky. I also considered the use of whiteness as a color to contribute to a peaceful feeling in my shots.

I was especially inspired by the photographer, Neil Stewart. I really liked the placement of his subject matter as well as his distortion of color to give off high and low temperatures. Often times, these colors made his images not only peaceful, but beautiful. I want to use color like Stewart does in my own pictures, and I plan to utilize the outdoors to shoot for this project, like Stewart.
